Marshmallow Mania

Technically, marshmallows are a confection-a candy.  They originated in ancient Egypt.

They have been around in their modern form since the mid 1800's.  This confection is called a 'marshmallow' because part of the original recipe called for sap from the root of the marshmallow plant.  Today, gelatin replaces the sap to create the fluffy marshmallow we have come to love for more than 150 years!  

Marshmallows are enjoyed in many ways: in desserts, around camp fires and in hot drinks to name only a few.
